Satori Sound & Coffeehouse . Mobile, AL
It was cool to catch up with my art school acquaintances. Before I went to the show, I stopped by Barnes & Noble to meet my sis, and the one of my former classmates still worked there. She’s an amazing artist, but we talked a bit about what each of us had been doing since graduation. It’s cool when people remember that you did good work. I learned that quite a few people who graduated with me with BFAs in graphic design are doing the same type of job I’m doing, waiting for their “big break.” So, of course, I don’t feel so bad about being a “typesetter.”
About the show – the art was nice. The show was juried by the new part-time ceramics instructor. David T-something (Truesdale?). He’s from New York and observed that it actual did get cold in Mobile, despite the misinformation he’d gotten from the full-time ceramics instructor.
